hey

long time no update. i'll fill you guys in real quick on what's happeneing.

things are going pretty well over here. there's a lot of homework and reading for my classes, but i'm staying on pace so far with everything.

i've been going to different churches for now. i've been to two so far and they have both been really good. i went to jenn's church, called 'chinese for christ'. i found it funny that their pastor is white!

i haven't gotten too homesick or anything really, but there have definitely been moments when i miss home and all of you guys. thanks to everybody for the phone calls and the emails or just chatting on AIM.

alright, i should pay attention during lecture now.

berkeley

hey everybody,

been a while since I've last posted. just wanted to post a quick update so you guys won't think I'm dead or anything.

this week has been awesome. meeting lots of new people and just having a great time before school starts.

oh, the reason I haven't been online for the past few days is because I got my IP banned for exceeding the bandwidth limit of 10 GB. I guess I should have asked before I started downloading all those torrents. but yeah, i won't have it til monday I think, =(

i'm in the library right now, and on the way here I witnessed my first protest on campus! it was too funny. a huge band of people walked through the main gate and all the way to the dean's building protesting to save the oak trees. the funniest part was when the po-po rushed ahead of them to stand in front of the doors to make sure they didn't rush inside and do something. oh man, good stuff.

alright, time to take a nice nap.

california!

Hey!

Just wanted to post a quick update and let you guys know that I landed safely in San Jose this evening. Had a nice chance to hit up the ol' costco and buy some last minute dorm supplies, sample the szechuan cuisine and bubble tea in milpitas (former was outstanding, latter was so-so), and catch up with some family which I haven't seen in a few years (it's nice to be able to have real conversations with my cousins now, who are in 3rd and 1st grade). Will be staying with at my aunt and uncles' for the weekend and then move into the dorms either monday or tuesday when they open up. i'm excited!

thanks again everybody for the going away party. it's truly been God's blessing to be surrounded with so many great brothers and sisters in Christ. i've been so fortunate to have known each and every one of you, and i hope that i'll be able to keep in touch with all of you while I'm in California for college. sorry if i didn't get a chance to say goodbye to some of you before i left, but hey, i'll be back in no time!

that's all for tonight!

Top 10 of 2006

Just got back from a busy day. Said my last goodbyes to some friends and played the last games of basketball in my favorite gym on Mercer Island (for a few months, anyway). It's almost time to leave and it'll be here before I know it. I'm getting pretty excited, but also sad at the same time. Thought about all the fun times I've had this past year, and was amazed at how great its been.

So before moving on to 2007, I'd like to dedicate an entire post to the year 2006, aka the best year of my life (well, more like the first half of 2006, but same difference). This year was simply wild, from start to finish. There were a plethora of exciting events, and together they made this year one to remember for the ages. It was so packed that I had to leave out some really deserving things, such as puzzlehunt, vbs, and high school retreat. So without further ado, I present the 10 most memorable moments of 2006!

...

10. whistler
Ah, this one needs no explanation, except maybe for its relatively low ranking. I mean it's Whistler! Despite not having as much fun in the house as previous trips, you can't deny the sheer awesomeness of this particular mountain and all its awesome runs. And I can't leave out the part where I completely decked out a lady on the way down from the summit. Man, I'm going to be sad I won't be able to make it this year. Hopefully I can make some friends at Cal and have a trip to Tahoe!

9. family dinners
They say all you have in this world is your family, and sometimes I couldn't agree more! To my *extended* family, thanks for being there for me, through the thick and thin. I don't know how I could have gotten through without you guys. I'm thankful to have such caring and supportive friends as you guys. Just don't replace me! =)

8. camping

One of the biggest highlights of my entire year, and this year it didn't disappoint. Nothing like roughing it in the big outdoors with your propane stove and tons of top ramen. And who could forget all the crab we caught! Yeah! And as usual, tons of big2, settlers, and OF COURSE, mafia was played.

7. psalt retreat

I thought that going into this retreat, I had so much passion and love for God that there was no way this retreat was going to turn out to be anything but an amazing experience. Not that it wasn't a great retreat and the teaching wasn't good, but ADDING in that factor made it so much better. I thought that almost everybody that went gained a lot from it and grew closer to the Lord, which made it even sweeter.

6. bowling mania
Oh man... this was FREAKING AWESOME. The era when everybody went WILD for bowling. It was so addicting that I went and bowled 9 straight games by myself once for about $50 =(. Sigh, I'll miss you Sun Villa.

5. bcc spring quarter
Haha... probably the most fun I've ever had at school since middle school. It wasn't the classes and workload that made it exciting, but more the fact that know
ing summer was SO close and soon I'd never have to return again! Throw in the senioritis, greenhouse project procrastination, and of course the big crush and pursuit of a girl that looked like Kristin Kreuk, and there's no denying this #5 spot.

4. summer basketball/working out at bally's
Summer bball was TOO FUN. Definitely the highlight of my week to go to MI and ball for hours with the usual gang. The games were so good cause so many people came, and we even had to use a signup board to regulate everything. And who could forget the period of time where I got RIPPED from working out at bally's with lawrence (thanks for helping me). Xfit for life!

3. abducting josh kim's dad
Probably the single most awesome night of my life.
I can't explain it, you had to have been there. Josh and roomie, I'm gonna miss the great times we've had together. And the constant girl problems we talked about for hours on end. I hate you, Linda!

2. church retreat
The best retreat I've ever been on, hands down. Definitely the turning point in the year for my walk with God. Ever since Lance Lambert talked about being a true disciple rather than a convert, I think I've really been blessed and able to grow with the Lord. Just hope next year is as remarkable.

And the #1 most memorable moment of 2006 is...

1. disneyland
WAHHHHHHHHH! I miss Disneyland so much =(! Probably the most fun I've ever had in my life... I can't wait til the day I can go back! Sigh... Best senior road trip ever.

...

So there you have it, the best of 2006! Sets quite a high standard for 2007, but I'm sure this year won't disappoint! =)

Dishonorable mentions:

CSL Volleyball: Oh darn! I'm so sad I'm going to miss getting dominated in this sport!

My senior sharing at H.S. retreat: Yeah... this was kinda awkward and embarrassing. Sorry guys.

Bad luck at big2 in disneyland: Can't believe I lost that game...
